We believe that the US must make a major investment in renewable energy to avoid a future with catastrophic climate change and detrimental sea level rise here in Hampton Roads.  Many studies (see list)  show that major increases in renewable energy are feasible and desirable.

According to the US EPA, in 2016, U.S. greenhouse gas emissions totaled 6.511 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalents, or 5.795 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalents after accounting for sequestration from the land sector. At least 28% of those carbon emissions come from electricity generation.

According to Bloomberg, as of January 28, 2019

“Corporations purchased 13.4 gigawatts of clean power through long-term contracts, more than doubling 2017’s total, helped by demand from new industries and previously untrodden markets.” This is exactly the effort we are hoping to grow within the qualified opportunity zones of Virginia.
